Dr. Loren Rieseberg and his team are integrating genomics, ecophysiology and farmer participation to increase the quality, quantity, and diversity of favorably adapted carrot and salad greens seed varieties. In labs at the University of British Columbia and the University of Toronto, the team is working to better understand how carrots adapt to different environments at the genomic and functional level. In the fields, a network of farmers (CANOVI) is helping to identify varieties with promising traits.
